Richard Bowes has published five novels, two collections of short fiction and fifty short stories and articles. Recent and forthcoming stories appear in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, and the Digital Domains, Best Gay Stories, Beastly Bride, Wilde Stories, Haunted Legends, Naked City, Nebula Awards Showcase 2011, Supernatural Noir and Blood and Other Cravings anthologies.
His mosaic novel Minions of the Moon is made of ten stories. Among them are “On Death and the Deuce” his first published story which has been anthologized and reprinted several times. One of the stories included in Minions is “Streetcar Dreams” which won a World Fantasy Award. The novel itself won a Lambda Award.
His novel From the Files of the Time Rangers is made up of nine stories. Two of them, “The Ferryman’s Wife” and “The Mask of the Rex” were on Nebula short lists for best novelette. The novel itself was also Nebula short listed.
His novel in progress Dust Devil: My Life in Speculative Fiction is made up of fifteen stories. The first of them, “There’s a Hole in the City” has won a Million Writers Award and an International Horror Guild Award. It was also short listed for the Nebula. Another, “If Angels Fight” was short listed for the Nebula and won a World Fantasy Award. A third, “I Needs Must Part the Policeman Said” was on the Nebula short list and is currently on the World Fantasy short list. So far stories from this novel have appeared or will appear in fourteen “Year’s Best” anthologies and have been translated into German and Japanese.
